What’s with the Disneyland and Swindon twinning?
I heard on the news and it’s really big, that Disney has now named Swindon it’s “twin town”.
I don’t quite catch that. What exactly does it mean, is it a special relationship they’ve formed?
And also, Swindon is not that superior. Out of all the places in the world, it had to be Swindon. Why not London or Edinburgh??
Anyway what does it really mean?
It is a special relationship, lasting only a year. Essentially, it was a contest to win a trip to Disney World and the woman submitting the video of Swindon won.
It is not unusual for cities and towns to declare a twin or sister city relationship with a municipality in a foreign country. Often that relationship includes cultural as well as technological exchanges. It is unusual for an entertainment company to declare a town as a sister city, but taken from the perspective of a contest encouraging tourism to Disney, not unbelievable.
