Hi there!

I did get my Wimbledon confirmation in late February. I was successful therefore, and paid for my tickets online at the AELTC website.

What should happen is this:
1) You send a stamped, addressed envelope to the AELTC ballot address;
2) They send you an application form;
3) You complete the application form, and return to the AELTC address given (the closing date for application form submission this year was early February believe, due to the postal strikes in January);
4) You are notified if successful on a rolling ballot up to and including May 2010;
5) Pay by either card or cheque;
6) Tickets are dispatched late May/early June.

If you did not complete the form, or were not successful, then you can still go to Wimbledon by doing the following:
1) Queue, obviously;
2) Go to the Ticketmaster website just before the tournament is to start. They offer the chance to buy returned tickets for the purchase price, but you need to apply two days before the day you want to go. For example, if you wanted to go on the first Monday, any returns go on sale on the Saturday prior.
3) Similar to above, Ticketmaster offer a small amount of tickets for the additional back seats at Centre Court. In the past two years, these tickets have gone on sale 8pm sharp the night before the day they are valid for. However, these seats are up in the Gods (still same purchase price) so consider if this is OK for you.

If you are going to try the ticketmaster route, can I suggest you throw off anyone from the internet as the moment the clock strikes 8pm, every man and his dog tries to buy these scarce few tickets. Also, do not do what I did last year and forget you already have your debit/credit card registered on Ticketmaster – you can only register any particular card ONCE – I did get successful with a return ticket, but because I could not remember my old Ticketmaster account with my card details within, I had the excruciating experience of having to let Centre Court ticket returns go as the clock counted down. Books, chairs and files flew across my office in rage.
